Andy is a partner specialising in the commercial aspects of sports law, in particular sponsorship, merchandising and licensing. Having trained in the City, he joined specialist sports law firm Townleys on qualification in 1995, then became a partner when the firm merged with Hammonds in 2001.
Equally comfortable working with rights holders or sponsors, Andy has advised clients in over forty sports. They include FIFA, UEFA, Rugby World Cup, Six Nations Rugby, European Rugby Cup, British Lions Limited, Laureus World Sports Awards, Carlsberg, Gillette, Nike, Nationwide Building Society, npower, Bacardi-Martini and UBS. He has been involved in shirt sponsorship deals with the following football clubs; Everton FC, Fulham FC, Liverpool FC, Middlesbrough FC and Aston Villa FC.
Andy lectures widely to the sports sponsorship industry and at numerous academic establishments including Kings College London (postgraduate certificate in sports law) and Liverpool University (MBA in football studies). He is identified as an expert in his field by independent legal directories The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, the latter commenting "there is no-one to touch him on pure sponsorship matters".
He lives in London, supports Everton, and reckons he can still do a job in an attacking midfield role just behind the front two for his Sunday league team.
