What the directories say: "incredibly smart", "a great commercial resource"
The Firm's CEO, Mark has been involved in the sports business in various capacities for the last 13 years. After training and working as a corporate finance lawyer in the City of London, Mark started his career in sports with Townleys, the now-defunct pioneering sports law practice formed by Steven Townley.
On leaving Townleys in 2000, Mark worked briefly in London for the now-defunct World Sport group Plc before being appointed General Manager of Global Cricket Corporation ("GCC") - a NewsCorp owned company formed to own and manage the global commercial rights to the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Mark left GCC after the Cricket World Cup in South Africa in early 2003, becoming part of the 3-man management team which took over the global commercial rights of World Snooker, where Mark became Managing Director. Mark returned to the sports law arena in mid-2004 to manage Couchmans, helping transform the business from start-up to market leader in less than 5 years.
Mark has particular experience in the structuring and ongoing management of major sports events and properties, and in advising and negotiating major rights acquisition contracts (including sponsorship and broadcasting). Over the years Mark has advised Rugby World Cup, International Rugby Board, Nike, WMG, Nimbus and Stanford 20/20 amongst many others.
